The park consists of 1,450 acres of wilderness. Mount Hood, at 2,730 feet, is the highest peak in the Mayacama Mountain range. This was an out-and-back hike to the summit of Mount Hood and a side trip to "Gunsite Rock." The hike started in Sugarloak Ridge State Park, and shortly thereafter the trail entered Hood Mountain Regional Park. Distance: 7 miles. Climb: 2,525 feet. Time on trail: 4 hours, 45 minutes.
